Nigrum Corpus is a medical-style book that exposes racism in healthcare through fictional diseases inspired by the real experiences of Black patients.
The project subverts the visual language of traditional clinical manuals to reveal issues such as misdiagnosis, the dismissal of pain, and obstetric violence. Combining photography, digital illustration, 3D art, and artificial intelligence, it portrays Black bodies with dignity and depth, proposing a more humane approach to medical education.
Beyond raising awareness, the project presents concrete paths for change, including greater diversity among medical faculty and more representative clinical simulators. The initiative has already reached more than 9,000 medical students across over 10 Brazilian states.
